ChaChaCha Changes

Long time no blog.  There have been lots of changes around our house, which I feel like I always say.  Ruthie seems to have turned into a full blown big girl over night and Lainie is no longer a baby.

Here are a few of our usual randoms, before I get to the big changes:

I got a turbie towel for Christmas and Lainie Loves it. She thinks she is hot stuff in it, it is really cute!

Lainie also loves the dishwasher now.  She's getting to where she will bring her dishes into the kitchen and sometimes sit them in the dishwasher.  She's a total organizer and sorter.

There is no where Lainie would rather be than on top of Ruthie when she gets in the Laundry basket.  There is no where Ruthie would rather be less than to have Lainie on top of her in the laundry basket.  This usually results in time out.

Lainie's new favorite food is lasagna.

Some of the bigger changes in our house have revolved around our bigger girl.  We decided a few weeks ago (spur of the moment) to set up her big girl bed.  I have never seen a child happier in my life to see big girl sheets and a bootiful pillow.  It was so cute.

Prior to setting up her big girl bed, we made the rule that diapers weren't allowed in the big girl bed, and pacis weren't either.  As soon as we made the paci comment, she took her paci's and threw them in her crib, no big deal.  We were SHOCKED. and amazed. and thankful.  As far as potty training, we hadn't tried it yet.  It wasn't a big concern for us and we've had a lot of other stuff going on so we knew we'd get there when we get there.  Anyways, we set up the big girl bed and had to wait on potty training a few weeks.  Once we decided to start, there has been no looking back, and no paci's!  She has done great and hasn't even mentioned the paci.  The big girl bed was the biggest incentive ever and she just loves it.

The first day at naptime I actually had to take a picture that she was asleep in it, with no paci.  Incredible.

So, big girl bed, potty training and no paci's all in one day!  Pretty exciting stuff!  Bittersweet, all the growing up, but so exciting to see how happy and proud she is.

Our biggest change is that our party of four is going to a party of five! Thats right, I'm pregnant.  Yes. Again. :-).  It is safe to say this was the shock of my life, but we are so excited.  Due date is Aug 11 and we both think its a girl, based on our exhibits A and B above.

Thats also why I haven't been blogging.  The throwing up has eased up and hopefully life will get back to our new normal where I can update a little more regularly!

Wordless Wednesday: She's so proud!

Lainie's loving her new found trick! She claps breakfast, noon and night and we're pretty sure this solidifies her status as a baby genius :-)

Random Question: If I'm getting Christmas stockings for our family, what do I embroider (if anything) on Joel and my stockings?  The girls names will be on there's, but it seems weird to put Joel and Grace on ours, also weird to put Mom/Dad/Mommy/Daddy.  So do I go with no embroidery on anyones or just on a the girls? Thanks for your input!

TEETH!!!

YEAH!  Lainie has her first tooth through!  (Please let her sleep now!).  Today (06/18/12) is the first day I have felt anything.  I think both bottom front teeth are coming through but for now I can only feel the bottom right tooth and man is it sharp!
For the sibling record, Ruthie got her first tooth at 7 months, 6 days, and Lainie's came in at 7 months 16 days.  Pretty close!  Not so close is their size! At this age, Ruthie was about 15 1/2 pounds and Lainie is about 19lbs!  Shes so long (she gets it from me :-).

I have been thinking for a few months now she would have a tooth pop through anyday based on the huge change in her sleep habits, but hopefully now that one is through (with a second close behind) she'll start sleeping consistently through the night.
She's growing up so fast!  I'm a total sap.

Lainie goes up...Crib goes down

I can't get enough of this video.

Period.

Its my favorite so far.  Ruthie's post-piggies wild hair, her belly laughs, Lainie's first time standing up, and just having fun together.

I could, however, do without hearing myself on video, but other than that, can't get enough!

Rice Cereal!

I would have to say this video is less about rice cereal, and more about sibling rivalry! This was our first taste of it and it was HILARIOUS!

Hope you enjoy as much as we did. I think its worth watching.

This video was taken three weeks ago, and NayNay could really care less about rice cereal, quite the opposite of her sister. We took a break and tried again this week and she's eating two times a day an entire bowl! I want to get to costco so I can get some avocados. I'd rather give her real food, but went to Harris teeter last night and they were $2.99 each!!!! So sad our avocado tree bit the dust!

Enjoy!

Ruthie, can you wink?

So apparently when I wink, I open my mouth really wide, so now instead of doing anything with her eyes, this is what Ruthie does when you ask her to wink.

It is HILARIOUS, and man what a tongue!!! Noni all the way.

She's really happy about it.

Gigi, look how cute this outfit is!! I love it!

Hi Ho! HI Ho! Its off the Mullet goes!

Hallelujah! Ruthie's Daddy finally acknowledged the mullet rat-tail Ruthie had going on and that he was okay with me cutting it! YIPEE!! I don't know if I can adequately convey how excited I was when I got the go ahead to cut it off and that he understood that just because the back is long doesn't make her look more like a girl, because it really just made her look like a ragamuffin.

Side note, what was I thinking that cutting a 14 month old's hair would be easy. I actually thought I could cut layers in it?????? I'm just glad I cut any hair and didn't cut her neck! It is not easy to cut a baby's hair, and while it is definitely not even, it is no longer a mullet and that makes this Mama very happy!

I also thought it would be easy to get a straight on shot of the back of her hair.

Wrong.

This is the best I can do. Trust me it looks 200% better.

Another milestone?????

We've got a Puller-Upper! Ruthie's been starting to climb all over us and try to pull up, so we knew this was coming and quickly! Today, when I put Ruthie down for her nap, I watched her on the monitor for a while (and took a video of her on the monitor so Joel could see it when he got home). She started getting mad and starting to pull up. After a few minutes, I came upstairs and got a quick picture of this girl...mad!!

Here is a close up of one upset baby!

Then 1/8th of a second later, she spotted me and it turned to this...

CUTE! I wish the slats weren't blocking her, but she was HAPPY! She can turn it off and on really quick during naptime!

Toothie Ruthie

Thats right! We have our first tooth (and what looks to be like a second soon behind)! Neither Joel or myself had any idea teeth were coming at all in the near future based on the big gummy smiles we get all the time (And I haven't felt anything at all). Although Gigi did point out she was doing this a lot with her tongue, and she was right (Gigi always knows)On Friday after feeding Ruthie, she gave me a huge, gummy smile and I noticed her gum looked whitish. I reached in and felt it and sure enough, there was a little razor!

We've tried and tried to get a picture of the 1/100th of a millimeter tooth, but that is a lot harder said than done.
Here is the best attempt and you can't even see it!

We're so impressed with how she's handled it, Thursday night she was up more than normal but nothing other than waking up and getting settled back down.

She's an angel.

I'm being a complete sap about it too. I'm excited and sad. I'll miss those big gummy smiles and babies with teeth look so much older. She's growing up and Its happening so fast. I know everyone told me this would happen, but I didn't think it would be so fast! This weekend we have also lowered her crib, moved to a four hour schedule, gotten teeth, her hairs coming in and she's gone to kindergarten. Well, not really on the last one, but that is sure what it feels like!!

I am so thankful she is growing and developing and cannot understand this sap part of me, other than it just being part of being a Mom and not wanting her to grow up too quickly! I do know she's going to be so cute with little chompers!!

Hopefully she'll handle all her teeth this way, she's a cutie, Toothie Ruthie (courtesy of Aunt Nana).

My Rolly Polly

Yesterday, my sweet non-night time sleeping angel baby rolled over TWICE! and while Daddy was home so we both got to witness it! I tried my hardest to get it on video this morning, but she wasn't having any part of it. I'll keep trying and get it up here asap.

She may be the fastest rolling baby I've ever seen. I had her on a blanket on her tummy yesterday and about .1 seconds later she had arched and rolled over with lightening speed. It really might've made her dizzy. Joel and I almost missed it. We were so proud, and poor Ruthie, I yelled Yeah and threw my arms up and scared her! It was pitiful. She got over it quickly and when it was bedtime, she super-sonic speed rolled over again from her tummy to her back, like it was nothing.

The funny thing is she really hasn't show much interest in rolling at all. I would try and work on it with her, and she was just fine laying on her tummy just watching everything (after she stopped disliking it so much).

Hopefully soon, there will be a rolly polly video up for everyone (ie: the Grandparents) to enjoy!

**Also, Cinco de Ruthie has been postponed until our doctors visit next week**

Have a great day!
